In August 2021 we bought our second batch of Friesian cross Herefords, once again nine heifers and seven steers. At a glance you can tell that not all their mum’s were Friesian, with at least one Norwegian Red and a possible Fleckvieh mother in the mix. Anyway, they’ve settled in well and we’ll probably turn them out week commencing April 11th. They’re very easy-going and good natured creatures, and bring us up to eighteen heifers against a target of forty by 2023. The guy with the calf is Ben Scully, our farm foreman, and the smiling girl is his daughter, Jess, who is very keen on animals! The calf in that picture is Esmeralda, one of our heifers.
